الاسم العلمي : Neochmia temporalis
يتميز احمر الحاجبين بوجود شريط احمر اللون فوق العين و الجسم رمادي و الظهر زيتوني اما الذيل فأسفل الذيل ابيض و النصف الخلفي من اعلى الذيل اسود و النصف الامامي منه احمر و متوسط طول الطيور البالغة منه 11-12 سم.
موطنه الاصلى الغابات المعتدلة و الموائل السافانا الجافة بالساحل الشرقي لاستراليا
يعيش احمر الحاجبين في مناطق السافانا الجافة و بالغابات المعتدلة و بالقرب من المناطق المعشوشبة
و هناك ثلاثة سلالات منه سلالة بالساحل الشرقي و سلالة بنيو ساوث ويلز و فيكتوريا و سلالة بولاية كوينزلاند الشمالية و الفروق بين هذه السلالات الثلاث طفيفة
احمر الحاجبين يعيش في اسراب من 10-20 طائر ويبني اعشاشه على شكل قببي على الاشجار على ارتفاع 2-3 متر فوق سطح الارض
و هذه الطيور لم تستأنس على نطاق واسع فهي مدخلة حديثا الى فرنسا كطائر زينة و يربى في الاسر و لم ينتشر كطائر زينة حتى الان
الغذاء
يتغذى على البذور و الحشرات في البرية
